Hello everyone,

I’m Marcus and as you can tell by looking in my eyes I am a very shy kinda guy… don’t you think that one-eyed camera looks pretty creepy when it flashes at you!?! Anyway, when I was little I didn’t think I could trust any humans and would try so hard to hide whenever anyone came near me but over the last year I have learned to trust and love my foster family. They have taken the time to let me come out of my shell and learn that people are kind (and give good treats)!

My favorite parts of the day are when I get to go jogging with mom (my head and tail go way up and I am so happy!) or after the lights go out at night and all is still and quiet… that is the best cuddle time especially if you like to eat popcorn in bed! When my foster mom sits at her desk to work, I can usually be found sleeping by her feet… if I am not outside playing with my doggie friends. I like all dogs I have ever met you see both big and small.

I can still be a little shy and am looking for a mom (or patient, gentle dad) who will continue to help me grow in confidence by slowly helping me experience new things. I don’t need to be babied or coddled but rather helped to stretch a little at a time to grow into my full potential. I can be food motivated so I would love the chance to do obedience training but perhaps we could start off at home since school might have too much going on for me to concentrated on learning.

I think I will always be a timid sort of boy but I am very, very gentle and submissive. When I am feeling scared I just go away from the thing that makes me nervous. You’ve probably heard of “fight or flight” well, I pick the flight route EVERY time!

I am housetrained, crate trained (I actually like my crate as my “safe place”), don’t get on the counters, play very nicely with all other dogs I have ever met, cats are kinda fun to chase but I don’t think I would ever try to hurt one, I have nice people manners and rarely jump up (only when I am VERY excited and forget)… what else would you like to know?

If you have a big heart and are looking for a heart to win over we just might be perfect for each other. I am looking for someone to love for ALL my life and you are looking for someone to LOVE! Let’s see if we might be a match!

NOTE:  In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids.  In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children.  However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction.  Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species.  Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.

The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' direct experiences with the dog. The dog's age is an estimate, and statements about the state of health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, is estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different.
