Hi my name is Charlie! I was born December 17 2002. I am a sable German Shepherd with ½ a tail and a flopped left ear. I am very affectionate and filled with personality. My current mom is looking for a new home for me because she is gone a lot for work and I get lonely. It is very difficult for her to find me a new home, but she knows that it is not fair to me to spend so much time on my own. I have been with her since I was one week old so the transition will be very hard for me as well. I keep telling her that there is the perfect family out there that will spend oodles of time with me and give me the life that she cannot at this time. So let me tell you about myself and let’s get to know each other!

I am very loyal and obedient and will love you unconditionally once I get to know you. New people can make me a little nervous, so it might take my a few weeks to really warm up to you and my new home, but once I know that you are loving and trustworthy people, I am putty in your hands. Small kids can make me nervous, so it would be best if I didn’t live with them. Older kids I am fine with, it’s the little one’s that are at or close to eye level that give me the jitters.

I love cats and have lived with them my whole life, sometimes I forget that I am 89 lbs and give them a scare, but I would never hurt them. My furry felines I live with now give me baths and I just love them for it!

Other dogs are not my cup of tea, so it would be better if I was the only pup in the house hold; besides I should be getting all the attention anyway.

I absolutely love going on walks, snuggling on the couch with you, rough housing, and playing ball; although I don’t always bring it back.  I am very well trained and can do all the basic commands I.e. sit, lay, stay, wait, come, out, off, leave it, and I would love to learn more!

I do have sensitive skin so I need to eat nutro ultra large breed to keep my skin in check. It took a long time to find a food that helped my itchiness, so it’s important to keep me on the same diet. I eat 2x a day, 2 cups each meal, but when it is hot, I don’t always eat my food.

I have been professionally groomed my whole life so bath time is a piece of cake, although getting my nails cut has never been a favorite. But I will do anything for a treat.

I don’t like to be left outside by myself, so after I potty I am ready to come right back in to be with you. I have a tendency to follow you around wherever you go, so I hope you don’t mind a curious nose peeping in the shower.  I just want to make sure that you didn’t drown, that’s all.

I am potty trained and I am a good boy when I am left in the house while you are at work. I am also crate trained and have no problems being left in there, if you choose, but it is not necessary.

Like I said before, being separated from my mom will be very hard for both of us, but as long as I find loving new owners, our hearts will be put at ease. I look forward to meeting you and if you have any questions please contact us at

NOTE:  In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids.  In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children.  However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction.  Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species.  Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.

The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' direct experiences with the dog. The dog's age is an estimate, and statements about the state of health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, is estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different.
