We adopted Oscar from a GSD rescue camp.  My husband and I felt we could give him a better environment until we could find him a loving, permanent home.  He is a wonderful dog!  He has a laid back and friendly demeanor.

Oscar loves other dogs.  He absolutely adores our 4lb. chihuahua and wants to play with every dog he meets on walks.  Speaking of walks, they're his favorite part of the day.  While walking, he stays right next to you.  No tugging or pulling on the leash.  I must admit I was a little hesitant to walk a larger dog, but he has been nothing but a breeze.
Oscar is great around children.  He is fast learning that children equal lots of petting.  He has not shown an ounce of aggression or prey drive.  In fact, our chihuahua has stolen his food right in front of him.  His response was to simply look at us with big, sad eyes.

Oscar is also housebroken and rides well in cars.
We adopted Oscar knowing he had a history of seizures.  He had seizures for a couple days after bringing him home.  We took him to our vet who ran extensive tests.  Our vet informed us it was pretty common, and it could be easily controlled by giving Oscar proper medication daily.  His meds include a powder and a pill which are simply put in his food.  These meds cost only $45.00 a month.  Oscar has not had seizure since and is a happier, healthy dog again!

He is neutered, black and tan, and approx. 1.5yrs old.  All his vaccines are current.  He weighs approx. 60 lbs. and still needs to gain a little more weight, which he's doing a pretty good job at.

NOTE:  In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids.  In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children.  However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction.  Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species.  Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
