Please meet Shasta and and her sister Star. Their story is a sad one because they were only 4 weeks old when someone put them and their other 3 siblings in a box and left them on the side of a busy highway to die. One of these puppies got out of the box and was on the highway when a kind person driving past saw that it was a puppy in the road and stopped to pick it up. To his amazement the puppy ran back to a box and that is where to his amazement he found the other 4 babies all huddled together inside. He called a volunteer with Austin German Shepherd Rescue to see if we could take them in and of course we weren't about to say no to these babies.

Shasta is the more outgoing one and shows a lot of independence in her personality. Although when she gets tired she is ready to climb up in your lap and just take some down time. She love to cuddle, but mostly she love to explore things.

She is learning to go potty outside and is doing quite well with this, but as everyone knows puppies have accidents and have to go outside more often than grown dogs, so being confined when you are away is a good thing till she is fully housebroke. She stays in the fosters bathroom with a baby gate while she is at work and has not had any pooping accidents while she is away.

Won't you give Shasta a home that will love her for the rest of her life?

She deserves so much better than how her life started out (in a box, abandoned and left to die). If you are interested in Shasta please fill out an application and then visit her in Houston. Shasta promises you will fall in love with her.

NOTE:  In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids.  In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children.  However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction.  Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species.  Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.

The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' direct experiences with the dog. The dog's age is an estimate, and statements about the state of health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, is estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different.
