Meet Kain, a sweet, smart young man who will steal your heart! He loves to play, play, play with other dogs, and never seems to wear out. However, he is respectful of other dogs, so if they want to stop playing, he is fine doing that. He will snuggle with you, and loves petting, but is very cooperative if you grow tired of petting him. He loves to go for walks or jogging, so if you need a jogging partner, he is your dog! If you are not a jogger, walks are fine with him, too. Kain has been very well trained, in obedience and marker training, as you can see in his videos. He is quite the athlete.
He can be a bit much at first meeting with other dogs, as he is so eager to make new friends he sometimes rushes other dogs and startles them. Once he knows them and they accept him, he is very passive and gentle with them, even letting them chew on him at times. Unfortunately, this is is not the case with cats. He has a very high cat and small prey drive, so he would not do well in a home with cats. Kain is housetrained, very well crate trained, although he can be trusted completely in the house, and does much better crated if there is another dog next to him. We were told he would escape the yard to play with other dogs, but we have had no problems with him here at his foster's home. He does have plenty of friends here, so that may be why he has done so well here. This great dog deserves a wonderful forever home, so please consider bringing Kain into your heart and into your home.
This is day 36 of marker training with Kain.
Watch Kain's marker training! What a smart dog!
Here is a video of him training with foster mom on day 8
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog.
