Honor is a sweet, and very loving girl.
However, Honor and her brother Haribo were diagnosed with Congenital Megaesophagus. For the last couple of months, we have been getting them stable and finding the right food and medicine to help them with their condition. In essence, they are just regular little pups, but they need to eat their meals upright in a special chair and remain there for around 20 minutes after eating. Their food is very easy to prepare and they are currently fed 3 times daily - we believe that this will be cut down to 2 times after they have gained a little more weight.
Honor loves her people, and like a typical German Shepherd, she likes to be really close to you. She has done very well with other dogs in her foster home and absolutely adores the school-age children. She loves walks around the neighborhood and is doing very well with her leash training.
Please consider adopting this sweet girl. Honor is in a foster home with other dogs and school-aged children that she does well with. Due to Honor's age, we are looking for a family where someone is home most of the day and any children are over the age of 5. Please consider making this adorable girl a member of your family. As we are a foster-based rescue (Almost Home Pet Rescue: rescueforlife@hotmail.com), we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet. This can be found on our website at: https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1 $200 (including tax) adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed and size categorizations are estimates. If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
